Nairobi, October 21, 2026. Fikra API has raised its per-account usage ceilings for every top-up account, effective immediately. The new limits: 3,000 requests per minute, 250,000 requests per day, 20,000,000 tokens per minute and 1,000,000,000 tokens per day.
Previously, paying accounts ran at 1,000 requests per minute, 20,000 requests per day, 2,000,000 tokens per minute and 50,000,000 tokens per day. The increase is 3x on the request rails, 10x on tokens per minute and 20x on the daily token ceiling. The free tier (accounts that have never paid) is unchanged, retaining its 30 RPM, 300 requests/day, 100,000 tokens/minute, 1,000,000 tokens/day allowances for evaluation and light workloads.
Driven by real traffic. The heaviest verified account on the platform processed 49.9M tokens in a single day, against a 50M ceiling. Enterprise-scale agent workloads, nightly batch pipelines and long-running assistants were the next class of traffic to arrive, and the company chose to serve that class self-serve rather than through a sales motion.
Serving the change without a sales call. Limits are enforced against published tier tables rendered live on the documentation limits page from the same configuration that answers the API. When a key does exceed a limit, the 429 response names the account tier. Verified accounts whose workloads outgrow the new ceilings can request another raise.
Agent surface. Agents can consume the new limits without an account at all, paying per-call in USDC on Base via the x402 payment standard at POST /v1/agent/chat/completions, with POST /v1/agent/quote providing pre-call price disclosure. Tier ceilings for API-key and x402 traffic are published in machine-readable form at fikraapi.co.ke/pricing.md and fikraapi.co.ke/llms.txt.
Prices unchanged. Per-token rates are untouched by this change: DeepSeek builds remain from $0.045 per 1M input, with cached input from $0.025, on the 1,048,576-token context line.
